Crimson Desert — FAQ

Here are some tips for new players:

• Do not skip any tutorial messages and text 📖. They provide incredibly relevant information, especially for controls.
• Do not rush the game.
• Avoid running into further parts of the map too early, as enemy types change and difficulty increases.
• The first town you arrive in is the most important, as most tutorials occur there.
• Complete the starting missions, including both main story and faction quests ⚔️.

Crafting in Crimson Desert allows players to create various items ⚔️.

Players can craft:

• Weapons
• Armor
• Consumables
• Items to improve the quality of your Greymane camp

To craft, you will use Abyss Remnants, which are Artifacts obtained by defeating enemies and bosses, completing quests, or through exploration.

Crafting is generally straightforward. You can use a smithy in your camp or other locations.

A new R button was recently added, allowing you to immediately craft items without needing to worry about material substitutions. There are generally no substitutions for crafting materials.

The latest patch introduced several changes and a hotfix.

The major update includes:

• Added five summonable mounts. ⚔️
• Decreased loading times for fast travel and revival.
• Changes to controls.
• Updates to the stamina system.
• Changes to stealth and thiefing.
• Implementation of a new reward system.

Tweaks were made to unintended movement tech:

• A special animation was added for it.
• It now takes more stamina with repeated uses.
• It can now be used with other weapons, not just one-handed swords.

Other changes include:

• The mini map can now be fixed to always point north. 🗺️
• New icons have been added.
• The skills menu now shows more information on how stats will be affected.

A hotfix was also released that fixed an issue where some bosses would stop moving during combat.

In Crimson Desert, you can catch fish using two methods: by hand or with a fishing rod. Details are primarily provided for fishing with a rod. 🎣

To fish with a fishing rod:

• Acquire a Fishing Rod: Buy one from the Provisioner’s Shop in Hernand.
• Equip the Rod:
• Equip it from the item wheel (hold D-Pad ). It replaces the bow slot in your inventory.
• You can also press the Q key or hold L2 (or LT) to take the fishing rod out.
• Find a Fishing Spot:
• Look for a large body of water where you can visibly see fish swimming below the surface. Fish are typically found in deeper water, such as ponds and lakes.
• Hold LT and aim at the water. If you can fish there, your cursor will highlight blue. If it's red, you cannot catch anything.
• Cast Your Line:
• Release L2 or hold and then let go of left click.
• When your cursor is blue, release LT to cast your line.
• Attract Fish:
• You can wiggle the rod around, which seems to make fish bite faster.
• Hold LT and move the analog stick to move your lure in the water. You will see shadowed fish approach.
• Hook the Fish:
• Once a fish bites the lure, press right click or R2 (or RT) to hook it.
• Reel in the Fish:
• This is a mini-game where you must counter the fish's movements.
• If the fish goes left, move your rod to the right.
• If the fish goes right, move your rod to the left.
• Do not reel if the fish is fighting; it won't bring it closer.
• Once the fish tires out, you can start reeling it in.
• You do not need bait for fishing. 🎣

The latest patch, Version 1.05.00, is rolling out. ⚔️

This patch introduces:

• Rematch and Re-blockade features.
• New legendary creatures that can be kept as Pets.

It also fixed issues where:

• Summoning of legendary mounts was prevented.
• Comrade trust reset under certain conditions.

Additionally, a hotfix was released for all platforms. 🔧

• This hotfix fixed an issue where some bosses would sometimes stop moving during combat.

A user has reported trouble with their kuku gardening pack since the last update.

You can get more inventory slots in Crimson Desert through several methods:

• Complete quests that reward an Inventory Bag. ⚔️
• Complete faction quests.
• Purchase from vendors.

Macduff was the original name for the main character, who is now primarily known as Kliff. ⚔️

His backstory includes:

• He is the son of Martinus.
• He is originally from Kweiden, a harsh land in the north.
• He is the leader of the Greymanes, a band of mercenaries.
• He is described as a man burdened by leadership and a tragic past.
• In promotional material, he is shown being killed and resurrected, and a younger version of him is seen stabbed.

It is unclear how much of this older naming and family background remains unchanged in the final version of the story, as current official material consistently uses the name Kliff for the protagonist.

To beat the Tenebrum boss, you must land three successful Force Palm blows on its weak points. ⚔️

First, reveal Tenebrum's weak points:

• Use Blinding Flash - Spot Weakness.
• Hold L1+R1 then press R1 (PlayStation) or hold LB+RB then press RB (Xbox).
• Aim at the flying specter.
• The weak spots will be marked with a small red dot.

Next, get airborne and attack:

• Double press Square (PlayStation) or X (Xbox) to jump and use your wings over the middle of the plaza where the floor is missing. The wind will catapult you up.
• Alternatively, use Aerial Force Palm to launch yourself high enough to use Fly.
• You can fly around indefinitely without draining stamina.
• In midair, press R3 (PlayStation) or Right Stick (Xbox) to perform Force Palm.

A recommended strategy is to take a defensive approach:

• Wait for Tenebrum to relocate.
• Follow the shadow trail it leaves; it relocates where the trail ends.
• Dash forward to that location and land a quick Force Palm.
• Dash backward immediately to maintain a safe distance from counterattacks like Dark Strike or Dark Whirlwind. 🎯
• Repeat this process three times to defeat the boss.

This boss fight occurs in Chapter 4 during the Main Quest: Gate to the Otherworld.
