What are the best tips for new players?
Here are tips for new players:

- Do not rush the game ⚔️.
- Avoid running into further parts of the map too early. Enemy types and difficulty will increase.
- The first town you arrive in is the most important. Most tutorials happen there.
- Complete the starting missions, including both the main story and faction quests 🎯.
How does crafting work?
Crafting in Crimson Desert allows players to create various items. ⚔️
Players can craft:
- Weapons
- Armor
- Consumables
- Items to improve the quality of your Greymane camp
Crafting typically takes place at a smithy, which can be found in your camp.
Equipment is crafted using Abyss Remnants. These Artifacts are obtained by defeating enemies and bosses, completing quests, or through exploration. 🗺️
To craft an item immediately without worrying about substitutions, players can press the R button, which was added in a recent patch. The crafting system itself is straightforward, with no substitutions for most items.
Refinement is a system adjacent to crafting. It allows players to improve an item, with symbols denoting the item's refinement level. 🔧

How does fishing work?
In Crimson Desert, you can catch fish using two methods: by hand or with a fishing rod. 🎣
To fish with a fishing rod:
- Buy a Fishing Rod from the Provisioner’s Shop in Hernand.
- Equip the rod from the item wheel (hold D-Pad). It replaces the bow slot in your inventory.
- Find a large body of water like ponds or lakes where you can visibly see fish swimming. If no fish are visible below the surface, you won't catch any.
Once equipped:
- Learn to fish by observing another NPC fishing, or by holding Control or L1.
- To take the rod out, press the Q key or hold L2.
- To cast, let go of L2 or hold and then let go of left click.
- Wiggling the rod can make a fish bite faster.
When a fish bites:
- Hook the fish with right click or R2.
- The fish will move left and right. To reel it in, counter its movement:
- If the fish goes left, move your rod to the right.
- If the fish goes right, move your rod to the left.
- Do not reel if the fish is fighting.
- After a while, the fish will tire out, and you can then start reeling it in. 🎣
- You do not need bait for fishing.
You can also get fish by hand if you are hunting in the wilderness near a pot.
How do I get more inventory slots?
You can get more inventory slots in Crimson Desert through several methods:
- Complete quests that provide standard inventory expansion tools. ⚔️
- Complete faction quests.
- Purchase inventory expansion items from vendors.
- Receive an Inventory Bag as a reward from certain quests.
Who is Macduff and what is his backstory?
Macduff is the main character, also known as Kliff ⚔️.
He is the son of Martinus and originally from Kweiden, a harsh land in the north.
Macduff is the leader of the Greymanes, a band of mercenaries. He is described as a man burdened by leadership and a tragic past.
In game footage, Kliff is shown being killed and then resurrected. A younger version of him was also seen stabbed in a 2020 trailer.
It is important to note that while early promotional material from 2019 used the name Macduff, current official material consistently uses Kliff for the protagonist. It is unclear how much of the older naming and family background remains unchanged in the final story.
How do I beat the Tenebrum boss?
To beat the Tenebrum boss, follow these steps:
This boss fight occurs in Chapter 4 during the Main Quest: Gate to the Otherworld.
- First, reveal Tenebrum's weak spots using Blinding Flash - Spot Weakness. ⚔️
- Hold L1+R1 then press R1 (PlayStation) or hold LB+RB then press RB (Xbox).
- Aim at the flying specter. A square shape will appear, and weak spots will be marked with a small red dot when you are close. This only needs to be done once.
- To get airborne, double press Square (PlayStation) or X (Xbox) to jump and use your wings.
- Do this over the middle of the plaza where the floor is missing; the wind will catapult you up to Tenebrum.
- You can fly around this area indefinitely without draining stamina.
- Tenebrum can only be damaged by successful Force Palm blows to its weak points.

- Wait for Tenebrum to relocate, then follow the shadow trail it leaves.
- It relocates where the trail ends.
- Dash forward to that location, land a quick Force Palm, then dash backward to maintain a safe distance from counterattacks like Dark Strike or Dark Whirlwind.
- Repeat this process three times to eliminate the boss.

Do I need to keep cooking recipes in my inventory after I’ve read them? Is there a reason to NOT sell them?
You do not need to keep cooking recipes in your inventory after you have learned them. 📖
Once you have learned the information from a recipe, you can sell it to an NPC for currency or gift it to increase your relationship status. There is no reason to keep them, and selling them helps free up valuable inventory space. 💰
